53-second tour: Pine scripts, NinjaTrader indicators, Bar Replay and chart trading. Real NQ futures data; the trades shown are simulated.

TradingView indicators on NinjaTrader charts

Native chart indicator

Add NinjaView Pine to any NinjaTrader minute chart and choose a .pine file. Inputs show up in the indicator settings and save with your workspace. Prefer a standalone chart? New › NinjaView opens a window that draws the same plots, labels and tables.

Live, with correct rollback

Developing bars update on every tick. var state rolls back between ticks and varip keeps intrabar changes, matching TradingView's realtime rules.

Separate panels and overlays

Oscillators get their own panel, with hlines, gradient fills and markers. Objects created with force_overlay draw on the price chart.

Pine v5 & v6, plus older scripts

Types, methods, enums, arrays, maps, matrices and named arguments, most of ta.*, math.* and str.*, every plot style, boxes, lines, linefills, labels, polylines and tables. Pine v1–v4 scripts are upgraded automatically.

Public libraries

Scripts that import open-source libraries fetch the exact version from TradingView once, verified and cached. Local copies always win.

Trade from the chart

Market, limit and stop orders on a NinjaTrader account you choose, through NinjaTrader like Chart Trader. Drag your take profit and stop loss, or set up a draft order on the chart before sending it. See every position on the account, grouped by instrument, and flatten one or all. Trading starts switched off, live accounts are labelled LIVE, and NinjaView never sees your broker login. Trading involves substantial risk of loss.

Your NinjaTrader indicators, too

Add Indicator in the NinjaView window lists every NinjaTrader indicator you have installed, next to your Pine scripts. They run on NinjaTrader's own engine, live, with their plots, drawings and on-chart tables, and their settings are editable right there. Run up to 16 indicators at once, Pine and NinjaTrader mixed, listed in a TradingView-style legend. Experimental.

Bar Replay and paper trading

Click Replay in the NinjaView window, pick a bar and play the market forward with your indicator. Trade it with a TradingView-style order panel, chart buttons and a right-click menu, then review P&L, win rate, profit factor and drawdown, and save the trade log. Fills are simulated on one-minute bars.

Install in a minute

  1. Download the -NinjaScript.zip. Leave it zipped.
  2. In NinjaTrader: Tools › Import › NinjaScript Add-On, then pick the ZIP.
  3. Restart NinjaTrader.
  4. Add NinjaView Pine to a chart and choose your .pine file. For oscillators, set Panel to New panel.

Good to know

  • NinjaView is an independent, partial implementation of Pine. Some scripts won't compile yet. strategy() scripts show their plots and drawings, but their orders aren't backtested yet.
  • A script that loads can still calculate differently from TradingView. Compare on the same contract, timeframe and history before relying on it.
  • Time-based minute charts only for now (no tick, range, Renko or daily).
  • Script failing? Open an issue with the error and a link to the public script.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use TradingView indicators in NinjaTrader 8?

Yes. NinjaView loads a TradingView Pine Script indicator file (.pine) and runs it on NinjaTrader 8 charts, calculating from NinjaTrader's own market data. Add the NinjaView Pine indicator to a chart and choose your script.

Do I need to convert Pine Script to NinjaScript?

No. NinjaView interprets Pine Script v5 and v6 directly, and upgrades older v1–v4 scripts automatically, so there is no manual conversion to NinjaScript C#. Script inputs appear in NinjaTrader's indicator settings.

Which Pine Script features are supported?

Pine v5 and v6 indicators (older v1–v4 scripts are upgraded automatically) with var and varip state, user-defined types, methods, enums, arrays, maps, matrices, named arguments, most ta, math and str functions, every plot style, fills, linefills, hlines, shapes, boxes, lines, labels, polylines and tables, higher-timeframe requests, plus public library imports. It is a partial implementation, so some scripts may not compile yet.

Can I replay the market and paper trade like on TradingView?

Yes. In the NinjaView window, click Replay, pick any bar (or a random one) and play the market forward bar by bar or minute by minute, with your Pine indicator replaying alongside it. Paper trade with a TradingView-style order panel, quick buy and sell buttons and a right-click menu, with take profit and stop loss. Results include P&L, win rate, profit factor and drawdown, and you can save the trade log. Fills are simulated on one-minute bars and nothing is sent to your broker.

Can I use my NinjaTrader indicators in the NinjaView window?

Yes, experimentally. Add Indicator lists every installed NinjaTrader indicator, built-in and custom. NinjaView runs it on NinjaTrader's own engine against the window's bars and shows its plots, drawings and anything it paints on the chart, with its settings editable in NinjaView. Indicators that load their own extra data series are supported, and they run in Bar Replay too. NinjaTrader strategies are not supported yet.

Does it work with strategies or place trades?

strategy() scripts load as indicators: their plots and drawings appear, but their orders are not backtested or placed. You can trade manually from the NinjaView window on a NinjaTrader account you choose, through NinjaTrader; trading starts switched off in every window. Trading in Bar Replay is simulated. Trading involves substantial risk of loss: try a simulation account first.

Will results match TradingView exactly?

Usually closely, but not guaranteed. NinjaView is an independent implementation and results also depend on matching data, session and history. Compare on the same contract, timeframe and date range before relying on a script.

Which charts are supported?

Time-based minute charts in NinjaTrader 8.1.8 and later on Windows x64. Tick, range, Renko and daily charts are not supported yet.
